Presented as part of Work(s) in Progress (Prototype Event), the performance explores hospitality and care with through a shared meal. Spinach pie, tea and conversation create a setting closer to a dinner table than to a conventional art space, where audience-participants constitute the work through their presence, exchanges and ways of being together. Care with is approached here as a shared and continually negotiated form of care that emerges through coexistence

This prototype forms an early stage in the development of research on care with. It draws on artistic practices that use food, conversation and shared time to create temporary situations of encounter.
Rirkrit Tiravanija’s use of cooking and shared meals is an important reference, particularly in the way it brings ordinary gestures of hospitality into an art context. Active listening also shapes the work as a practice of attention, responsiveness and openness to others.
The performance raises questions about the cultural specificity of hospitality. The shared meal may feel familiar to some participants, while its Mediterranean associations may be less open or recognisable for others. This tension becomes a starting point for later experiments with a more open participatory score.
