The (table)cloth of Care
The (table)Cloth of Care is an ongoing participatory portfolio in which pieces of fabric become a collectively made tablecloth. Participants are invited to spend time with questions from The Care Diary, sew a piece onto the existing cloth, and leave a written or drawn reflection in its pocket. The portfolio explores care, shared responsibility and the relationships that emerge through everyday gestures of making together.

Making process, under supervision
The (table)Cloth of Care extends the research developed through The Fabric of Care into a portable, participatory portfolio. A box brings together fabrics, sewing tools and The Care Diary, which holds fragments of the research alongside questions about people’s experiences of Care. Participants are invited not only to encounter this material, but to continue the research in their own way.
The fabrics, with their thin protective plastic covering, recall tables in Mediterranean homes. Sewing them together creates time for conversation, memories or silence. Each participant decides how their piece will join what is already there, while its pocket can hold a note, drawing or thought they choose to leave behind.
The tablecloth remains unfinished, changing through each encounter. Documentation becomes part of the object itself: traces of previous contributions travel with it and become part of what the next participant discovers. In this way, the portfolio holds the research while remaining open to its continuation through others.
